Upcoming Public Meetings

The Big Sky Passenger Rail Authority is conducting public outreach along the Empire Builder route
to understand community transportation needs better and explore how improved passenger rail service can enhance safety, economic opportunity, and quality of life across the Hi-Line!

Meeting schedule for Whitefish (Oct 23), Browning (Oct 29), Cut Bank (Oct 29), Shelby (Oct 30), Rocky Boy (Nov 5), Havre (Nov 6 AM), Malta (Nov 6 PM), Glasgow (Nov 12), Wolf Point (Nov 13).

Through meetings, surveys, and stakeholder engagement with rural, urban, and Tribal communities, we will gather insights on how rail restoration can expand access to jobs, healthcare, and commerce while informing future investments that strengthen connectivity and support sustainable regional growth.

This outreach effort is funded through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Build America Bureau under the Regional Infrastructure Accelerator (RIA) program, in partnership with the Pacific Northwest Economic Region (PNWER). Together, PNWER and the Big Sky Passenger Rail Authority are advancing transportation planning, community engagement, and project readiness for federal rail financing opportunities across Montana and the broader region.
Open to all—no RSVP.
Light refreshments; $100 gift-card drawing for attendees.
